About Prof Alan Salama
Prof. Salama is a consultant in nephrology and the director of the University College London Department of Renal Medicine.
Specializing in immunological kidney diseases, Prof. Salama has extensive expertise in vasculitis, autoimmunity, and transplantation. His training includes prestigious institutions such as Oxford, The London Hospital, Guy’s Hospital, and The Hammersmith Hospital. He completed his PhD at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School and further honed his skills during a post-doctoral period at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School.
Beyond his clinical practice, Prof. Salama supervises a cutting-edge laboratory focused on autoimmune kidney disease and immune dysfunction. His research aims to improve the diagnosis and treatment of immune-mediated renal conditions, including systemic vasculitis and SLE. With over 150 journal publications, Prof. Salama is a leading researcher in the fields of vasculitis, SLE, and transplantation.
