Dr Evans is a clinical academic Consultant in Nephrology (Associate Professor) at the UCL Centre for Kidney and Bladder Health, Royal Free Hospital.

Dr Evans studied medicine at Cambridge University and University College London Medical School, graduating in 2007.  He completed general medical training in London and Melbourne, Australia, before specialising in Nephrology within the North Thames training scheme.

About Dr Rhys Evans

Training and Career

Dr Evans studied medicine at Cambridge University and University College London Medical School, graduating in 2007.  He completed general medical training in London and Melbourne, Australia, before specialising in Nephrology within the North Thames training scheme.  He then earned a fellowship to undertake sub-specialty training in transplantation at the University of British Columbia, Canada, which he finished in 2021.  He’s a member of several prestigious organisations including the Royal College of Physicians, UK, the British Transplantation Society, the European Society for Organ Transplantation and the International Society of Nephrology.

Current Positions

Currently, Dr Evans is a clinical academic Consultant in Nephrology (Associate Professor) at the UCL Centre for Kidney and Bladder Health, Royal Free Hospital.  His practice covers all aspects of general nephrology, including investigating acute and chronic kidney disease and managing dialysis patients.  He has expertise in transplantation and tubular kidney disease management.  As the clinical lead for kidney transplantation, he oversees donor and recipient assessments and all post-transplant care.

Clinical Approach

Dr Evans values a friendly approach to medicine and strongly believes in shared decision-making with patients and their families.  He enjoys travelling meeting people and exploring new places and remains a keen sportsman having excelled in various sports.
